The Bristol Women’s Literature Festival
In 2012, I founded the Bristol Women’s Literature Festival. Since then I’ve organised two packed programmes of events featuring writers as diverse as Stella Duffy, Helen Dunmore, Emilia di Girolamo, Professor Helen Taylor, and Selma Dabbagh.
Festival of Ideas
Over the past few years I’ve worked with the Bristol Festival of Ideas, both as a judge for the 2013 book prize, a chair, and a speaker at a recent panel on freedom of speech.
Between Jan – May 2017 I worked as the writer-in-residence at Bristol’s Spike Island, organising a series of literary salons featuring Bidisha, Vera Chok, Shagufta Iqbal, Miles Chambers, Amy Key, Eley Williams, Tania Hershman, Ben Gwalchmai, and Holly Corfield-Carr. I also ran a series of schools and public workshops.
Colston Hall’s Hoo-Ha Festival
In 2016, I ran storytelling workshops with children aged 4-11 as part of Colston Hall’s Hoo-Ha festival extravaganza.
Since 2014 I’ve run a series of creative writing workshops for school and college students, encouraging them to discover how to develop their descriptive writing, and how to write dialogue.
